Attachment Kits
Attachment kit guide: function, selection and replacement
REVOL attachment kit guide: 6 codes for Scania, Volvo, Renault Trucks, Saab and Hino; release bearing connection on pull-type clutches, OE-based selection.
An attachment kit, also known as a mounting kit, is the set of connecting parts that links the clutch release bearing to the pressure plate; on pull-type clutches in particular, it creates the locked connection between the bearing and the diaphragm spring. Özteknik's REVOL range includes 6 codes in this category, matched mainly to Scania and Volvo vehicles and also to Renault Trucks, Saab and Hino. All codes are listed in the Attachment Kits catalogue.
What is a clutch attachment kit and what does it do?
On pull-type clutches the release bearing works by pulling the diaphragm spring rather than pushing it. To do so, the bearing must be firmly locked to the diaphragm spring fingers at the centre of the pressure plate. The attachment kit provides this connection: a typical kit consists of a connecting ring that seats in the centre of the diaphragm spring, together with the spring wire and clips that hold it in place. Kit content and design may vary from code to code.
The connection matters: every time the clutch is disengaged, the actuating force passes through it to the diaphragm spring. If the connection weakens or comes loose, the bearing cannot pull the pressure plate and the clutch does not release. On some designs the bearing must also be detached from this connection, using the method described by the manufacturer, before the gearbox can be removed.
An attachment kit does not work on its own; it forms a system with the release bearing and the pressure plate. Selecting the kit therefore depends on the type of bearing and pressure plate fitted to the vehicle.
How to choose the right attachment kit
We do not publish a dimension range for this category; for attachment kits the correct match is made by OE number. We recommend this order:
- OE number: Sample OE numbers: Volvo 20571945, Volvo 3180000001, Renault Trucks 5001825649, plus the references 1393187, 1673220 and 1655829. Enter the number on the search page to find the matching REVOL code.
- Vehicle make: Most codes are for Scania and Volvo vehicles; there are also matches for Renault Trucks, Saab, Hino, DAF, Iveco, MAN and Mercedes-Benz.
- Bearing and pressure plate: The kit must suit the pull-type bearing and pressure plate fitted to the vehicle.
- Removed part: Compare the old kit side by side with the new part.
| Feature to check | How to confirm it |
|---|---|
| OE number | Vehicle manufacturer's parts catalogue or label on the removed part |
| Clutch type | Confirmation that the system is pull-type |
| Ring and clip design | Side-by-side comparison with the removed kit |
| Bearing and pressure plate compatibility | Check with parts from the same clutch system |
Confirm before ordering: Kits that look alike may differ in ring shape, number of clips or spring wire design. If the OE number you need is not listed, send it to us and we will check availability.
Failure symptoms
- Clutch does not release at all: If the clutch does not disengage although the pedal is pressed, the bearing may have come loose from the pressure plate on a pull-type system.
- Difficult gear changes: Play in the connection reduces the release travel; gears are hard to engage or crunch.
- Sudden change in pedal feel: A pedal that suddenly goes slack or whose resistance changes noticeably may indicate that the connection has come apart.
- Metallic rattle from the clutch area: A loose ring or broken clips can be audible.
- Findings on removal: Deformed ring, fatigued or broken spring wire, broken or bent-open clips and worn seats.
Inspection and replacement
The attachment kit cannot be seen without removing the gearbox. If the clutch does not release and no fault is found in the hydraulic or pneumatic actuation, the connection should therefore also be on the checklist. During removal:
- Inspect the ring, spring wire and clips for deformation, cracks and fatigue.
- Check the seats in the connection area of the diaphragm spring fingers for wear.
- Assess the locking area of the release bearing together with the bearing itself.
Reusing a removed connecting ring and spring wire is not recommended. When the release bearing or pressure plate is replaced, renewing the attachment kit as well is recommended; replacing it together with the disc, pressure plate and bearing renews the system as a whole.
During fitting, assemble the kit, bearing and pressure plate in the sequence described by the manufacturer; once the gearbox is installed, confirm with the manufacturer's method that the bearing is fully locked to the pressure plate. The tightening torque and procedure given in the vehicle manufacturer's service manual must be followed; after fitting, adjust the clutch actuation, including bleeding where required, according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Safety: Clutch parts must be fitted by qualified personnel. Do not start removal until the vehicle is securely supported and the gearbox is carried on a suitable transmission jack. Do not move the vehicle until the connection has been confirmed.
Production and testing at Özteknik
REVOL is Özteknik's clutch brand, established in 2013. Özteknik has been manufacturing in Kemalpaşa, İzmir since 1971 and keeps machining, heat treatment, surface preparation, assembly and testing in-house (production and R&D). REVOL attachment kits are produced to OE quality. The REVOL clutch test equipment includes the following devices for the bearing and pressure plate the kit works with, and for spring elements:
- Coil spring, cushion spring & disc spring load testing device
- Bearing life testing machine
- Clutch cover assembly comprehensive testing machine
- Diaphragm spring load testing machine
Özteknik's quality management system is certified to IATF 16949:2016 and ISO 9001:2015; the certificates are available on the quality and certificates page.
Vehicles covered
REVOL attachment kits are a small but focused range: Scania vehicles account for the most codes, followed by Volvo, Renault Trucks, Saab and Hino. There are also matching codes for DAF, Iveco, MAN and Mercedes-Benz. Sample products: MK6 006 000, MK5 000 041, MK0 000 009. For the full category, see the attachment kits catalogue.
You can add the codes you need to your quote list or reach us via the contact page. OE numbers and brand names are given for comparison purposes only.
Frequently asked questions
What does a clutch attachment kit do?
On pull-type clutches, the attachment kit provides the connection that locks the release bearing to the diaphragm spring of the pressure plate. Without this connection the bearing cannot pull the spring and the clutch will not release.
How do I find an attachment kit by OE number?
Enter the vehicle manufacturer's part number on the ozteknikoto.com search page and the matching REVOL code is listed. As this category currently has six codes, simply send us the number if it is not listed.
Should the attachment kit be replaced with the release bearing?
Yes, this is recommended. Reusing a removed connecting ring and spring wire is not advised; renewing the kit whenever the bearing or pressure plate is replaced keeps the connection reliable.
Which vehicles do the attachment kits fit?
Most REVOL attachment kits are for Scania and Volvo vehicles, with further matches for Renault Trucks, Saab, Hino, DAF, Iveco, MAN and Mercedes-Benz. Confirm the exact fit by OE number.
How can I tell that an attachment kit has failed?
The clearest sign is a clutch that does not release although the pedal is pressed. Difficult gear changes, a sudden change in pedal feel, and a deformed ring or broken clips found on removal also point to a connection problem.
